Welcome to the M2 Link: A26 Ballee Road East to M2 Ballymena Bypass Dualling website. The schemeThis link will open a new window. will divert strategic north-south traffic using the A26 Antrim to Ballymena Dual CarriagewayThis link will open a new window. and the Ballee Road East Dual Carriageway onto a new 2.1 kilometre long dual carriageway underneath the Larne Road Roundabout to join the M2 Ballymena BypassThis link will open a new window.. Strategic traffic currently circulates around the Larne Road Roundabout where it conflicts with local traffic, resulting in an unacceptably high number of accidents and delays at periods of peak traffic flow. The contract to build the scheme has been awarded to Magherafelt based contractor FP McCann Ltd in April 2009. Construction of the scheme will start in early June 2009 and take about 10 months to complete. Traffic disruption will be negligible during most of the contract as the bulk of the works are being carried out offline through a greenfield site. Some traffic disruption can be expected in the latter stages of the contract when the new road is being connected to the Ballee Road East and to the M2 Ballymena Bypass.

The several partners to the contract – the contract team – have agreed to initiate and sustain cooperation during the delivery of the scheme. Working together, they have drawn up a Partnering Charter (221KB) This link will open a new window. to encourage a collaborative partnering approach to achieve a best value, win/win output focussed contract delivered on time whilst recognising the differing aims of the several members of the contract team.
